Bocas Town, as this colorful village
is locally known, is only 25 minutes by boat from Punta Caribe. Situated
on Isla Colon and named after Cristobal Colon ( Christopher Columbus),
who sailed along this coast on his fourth and final voyage. Colon is the
largest island of the archipelago, with supermarkets, gourmet stores, hardware
stores and a very large variety of restaurants and bars are all within
walking distance. Many hotels, often built over the water and other places
of accommodation abound. Municipal offices, internet cafes, water taxis,
ferries and of course the airport are all close.
